We are eager and excited to have each of you join us as we share our journeys through ULGA-YP this year and what we have learned along the way.

So now that you know why we are here. Let’s meet the writers on the DREAM TEAM!

SHANNON WOODWARD

Hi ULGA Current and Future Members! I joined ULGA-YP to make lasting connections and grow professionally. As I am new to the Atlanta area, ULGA-YP will also serve as my excuse to not be a homebody and explore what makes Atlanta one of the fastest growing cities. You can check out my post for event recaps, community service updates and some millennial struggle is real sidebar commentary in between. Professionally my career path is ever expanding into all things public health, healthcare, and policy.

CARLOS AMEY

Hey what’s up ULGA-YP fam? I joined ULGA-YP in February 2019 because I decided to make the vital first step of doing more for the Atlanta community and also for myself. Before I joined, I was content with just living for the weekend and waiting on someone else to plan something. If no one had something to do, I just counted it as another wasted weekend. This routine opened my eyes, and in this short frame of time, I have gone from wasting my time to investing my time.  There’s always an array of different activities to participate in. There’s an event for any and everyone, and ULGA-YP is always open to new ideas. Professionally, I work in investment finance, and I enjoy helping others become more financially aware.

CHAZ JENKINS

I joined Urban League of Greater Atlanta in March 2018. I was partially blindsided by being laid off. This alone made me realize how valuable a network is. Beyond that, I also realized all of the other organizations I was a part of, did not have many other younger members, to be frank. So, after being invited to an Urban League event by current members, I attended an Urban League General Body Meeting and after learning about the mission, the information being dispersed, and all of the young professionals in attendance, it was an easy decision to join. As a writer, I try to be original. Your voice is your own, so I find it critical to be original instead of a derivative of someone else. That said, the expectation of my writing is to tell a story using facts and little comedy. My day job is in IT consulting and my side gig is writing comedy scripts.

SONYA COOPER

Hello ULGA-YPs! I joined the movement in February 2017 during Join Week.  I made the leap to join ULGA-YP after living in Atlanta for a year and realizing I needed to expand my network. I love being involved in a cause greater than myself, so I found my fit when I joined.  Through this organization, I have made some connections that will last a lifetime. Professionally, I work in long term care, so the Urban League provides balance as I can spend my day doing activities for the elderly and my weekends volunteering with youth.  You can expect event recaps, future endeavors, and other topics of interest to the young professional.
